Since my trip to Alaska I've had a 12 gauge wire dangling from the positive lead of the battery. This wire allowed me to quickly and easily jumpstart the bike, without having to remove the side panels.
For the power to the dashboard I simply split that wire and put added a 10 amp inline fuse.
