Previous
Next
Deputy Police Chief Thomas Byrne said police were mounting a ;unique investigation' and were working with city engineers to determine what went wrong. The scaffolding weighed 1,000 pounds and was 100 feet long and 6 feet wide, officials said. It was suspended at the 42nd floor on the west side of the skyscraper, and authorities believe it was ripped loose by the 58-m.p.h. winds.
It was blown onto the Hancock?s south side, where it broke 66 windows before being broken apart and falling to Chestnut Street.
