The chlorination system provide chlorine solution for the disinfection of plant effluent. There is a flow proportioning chlorine system for the chlorine to maintain a residual below the daily average of 0.55mg/L.

Treatment plant effluent is pumped from a box between the chlorine contact tanks and the Parshall flume and is discharged through an educator mounted in the chlorination room. This creates a vacuum, which allows the vacuum regulator valve to open. Chlorine gas is then drawn from one-ton cylinders into an automatic proportioning chlorinator. The chlorinator regulates the rate of chlorine gas flow into the injector where it is mixed with the solution water. The chlorine solution is then delivered to the chlorine contact tanks through a diffuser. Adequate contact time between the effluent and chlorine is provided at all flow rates by the tanks.
